Day 9 and 10 in the Philippines

SEA TEACHER BATCH 6 AT TARLAC AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY

Day 9 in the Philippines (20th of August 2018)

On the 9th day in the Phillipines, all students of Sea Teacher and Sea Tvet had to attend the flag ceremony in the gymnasium of Tarlac Agricultural University in the morning. All students had prepared their stuff including me. Unfortunately it was raining in the morning. So, we had to use our umbrellas to go to the gymnasium. We went to the gymnasium together along with our Philipino buddies.

As we arrived in the gymnasium, we saw there were many students and staffs of TAU who were already lined up properly. We then joined them, and one of TAU staffs asked us to line up forward.  Not long afterwards, the ceremony began.

After the TAU president was done delivering his speech, he asked us to come on the stage to introduce ourselves one by one. All people in the gymnasium were excited to see us and so we were. Unfortunately todays classesses were postponed due to the heavy rain and flood that happened in the area near university this morning.

Since there were no classesses today, all students came back to their home. While for all Sea Teacher and Sea Tvet sudents we had to meet our cooperating teachers and we had some discussions about our preaparation for teaching as well as did some observation about the what teachers and staffs of College of Education usually do during the workhours. Through these activities we could get more knowldege about teaching in the classroom in the following days.

Day 10 in the Philippines (21st of August 2018)

Today, Tuesday, 21st of August 2018 is commemorated as Idul Adha for all moslem in the Phillipines or even in the world. We woke up in the morning to get prepared to go to the mosque. We left the hostel at 7.45 am and we went to the mosque by bus. The mosque is not really far from our Uni. It only took about 10 minutes to reach it.

After we got off the bus, we still had to walk through small alley and passed through the mud puddle along the road to the mosque. But it was really interesting since it was our first time celebrating the Idul Adha overseas.

As we arrived in the mosque, we were warmly welcomed by the mosque caretakers. They were very friendly and they treated very well. But unfortunately, as we arrived in the mosque, the prayer was over so we only had preaching from the Imam of the mosque.

Afterward the preaching was over, the mosque caretakers served us some food and meat of cow and goat that have been slaughtered already. We were also honoured to have a chance to take picture with the Imam and some caretakers there. After that, we said thank you to all people there and promised to come back on Friday.
